Beautiful Day (and more Isaac pics)

Today has been an absolutely GORGEOUS day! It has been slightly cloudy, but the temperature has been very mild; I'm guessing somewhere in the 70s. Regardless, the weather has been absolutely perfect for running. Before Isaac came along, I was trying to build up to run a 5K in a decent time (I know, go ahead and laugh, those of you who are marathon-ers). I've decided to try and do this again. As you can tell by the picture below, it's been a while since I've taken Ox on a run. I was trying to coax him over to get water to make a really funny "just went running" picture, but he wouldn't come close to me. I can't decide if that's due to the fact I was holding the camera (which he's never been fond of) or the fact he was afraid I'd make him run again. Isaac is in Mississippi right now with Justin's parents. I'm anxious to see what it's going to be like to take both he and Ox for a run. It should prove to be a really good workout.

I have got a ton of updating to do, so I apologize for the random-ness of the pictures in this post. Isaac may hate me one day for it, but I've got to post the obligatory bath picture. Isaac loved bath time with Daddy; however, he absolutely screamed and hated bathtime with me, until the bath sling came along (THANK YOU Mrs. Meador!). Now, he stomps, splashes, and has tons of fun.

Isaac absolutely loved his first encounter with sweet potatoes; this is further proof of just how much like Justin he is. (P.S. Please look past the fact that his rash is at its worst here. His face is MUCH better now!)

Caught Ya!

Well, son, you can't hide it any longer. Now the whole world can see you rolling over! It took me long enough to catch you.

Isaac has also begun to enjoy (or tolerate) vegetables in the evening. Every night, Isaac gets a bottle of milk and a jar of baby food.

He first tried green beans...

...then peas.

then tonight he tried carrots!

As you can tell, green beans were by far his favorite. And yes, he does have some kind of rash on his face (and legs....weird, I know) that I'm going to make an appointment about tomorrow. Don't let the upset faces fool you; Isaac has finished every jar of baby food that has been offered to him. It's really funny when he reaches with both hands and doesn't quite have the coordination yet to actually capture the spoon and bring it to his mouth. I've ended most evenings this week looking and smelling like a batch of bland vegetable soup.

Ta Da!

Wow! I'm embarrassed to see that it's been a little shy of two weeks since I've posted on here! I think it's because I keep waiting for momentus things (or at least momentus to me) to happen before I post on here. Regardless, Isaac has finally rolled over! He first rolled from back to front on Thursday evening. On Friday, his babysitter said that he rolled back over from front to back! He has learned to get his arm out from under his body, which the doctor admitted would be an accomplishment due to Isaac's size. At this point, Isaac had rolled over but still had his arm stuck under his body.

I went to check on the accident scene in front of the house, only to come back and find Isaac completely rolled over with his arms and legs free! I was quick to snap pictures. I have tried several times to catch him on video rolling over, but he realizes what I'm doing, rolls onto his back, and grins (what a ham!). I will try and post the video of him rolling over as soon as I catch the elusive thing. Isaac loves to do his new trick and gets really frustrated that he can't easily roll back over from front to back yet!

The Other Baby

Last night, Isaac enjoyed playing in his Exersaucer. That is, until he noticed "the other baby." On one side of the Exersaucer, there is a small mirror. Isaac will lean over the mirror and get sooooo irritated that he can't get to the other baby! I almost feel mean for laughing at him.

Off the Charts!

HAPPY BIRTHDAY JUSTIN!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Today I took Isaac to his 4-month check-up appointment, complete with shots. The first thing they do when you arrive is measure them in every way possible. He came in at a whopping 18 lbs. 12 oz.! His head circumference was 18 inches. Both of those measurements were off the charts. Only his length, 26 inches, even fell on the chart, and it fell in the 90th percentile! Isaac is a big boy. When I asked the doctor about starting Isaac on solid foods, he said that a lot of people do not recommend anything other than formula before 6 months. He also said that with Isaac being the size of boy that he is, he would want to eat every hour on the hour if he wasn't eating some cereal to help keep him full. He said after a few consistent weeks of cereal along with formula, that I could possibly begin to slowly introduce some fruit. We had to stop Isaac from rolling off the exam table several times; this led the doctor to say Isaac would likely be rolling over within a matter of days. He was also impressed with Isaac's desire to interact. Isaac tried to pat the doctor's hand several times, and he also tried to take the stethoscope every time the doctor placed it somewhere new. Isaac babbled a lot, and he also held his head up very well. All in all, the well-baby part of the appointment went well.

I was terrified of having to hold Isaac down for shots. Justin was here to do it last time. I, like most any mother, am weak when it comes to seeing my baby cry in pain. As you can see in the above picture, Isaac went to sleep as the doctor and I were discussing details. Then the nurse came in and gave him a stick in each leg, to which Isaac awoke with a scream. After a little cuddling, he took the oral vaccination and was fine! He hasn't seemed overly cranky about any of it. In fact, he even smiled at me before we left the doctor's office! We were sure to thank God soon after for the successful appointment.
