Since we had no training this weekend, a few of us went to Charleston, SC for the day. We had no realy plan. We wandered around the historic district, ate seafood, and acted like fools at battery park. Its a really pretty town. The weather was great. It was overcast and cooler. My parents tell me there's a tropical storm off the coast. There really aren't a lot of stories to tell. Nixon posed with the girls selling Italian Ice. Shirkey climbed a tree, which I'm fairly sure he wasn't supposed to.
Otherwise, today has been remarkably dull. I went to the last of the chapel services that are required as part of my training. It was the gospel service, and I enjoyed it as much as any other service. Next week, I'll probably attend a service off post at a local church.
I begin Phase 2 of training tomorrow. This won't be a major shift from what I've been doing the last two weeks. The briefs will focus more on chaplain-specific material. It'll still be a lot of time spent staring at a screen.

I'm glad you had a good weekend and hope you have a great rest of the day. This is funny, but the tropical storm's name is CRYSTOBOL! It sounds like crystal ball! I thought that was quite funny! I got to drive from church to Grandmother's house today, and I did realy well! It was fun! I miss you!

Your day may have been dull, but ours was anything but dull. Just think what it is like with seven grandchildren in the house. They have been good, but lively. Katie and I went to a wedding shower for Bethney Kilgore at the church this afternoon. We have the nursery tonight at church so it to will be lively.

Enjoy the time off while you can. I am glad to hear you are doing well and your training is progressing right along. Before you know it you will be in Texas having a baby. Talk to you soon and you and Emily are in our prayers.

Phase 2 has been much better, at least it is stuff that applies directly to the chaplaincy. Keep on keeping on!
