Another week of classroom work is out of the way. I've been told I have about 43 days left, but I haven't counted them up myself. This week focused on chaplain-specific material like counseling, preparing for deployments, leading worship in a combat zone, etc. Its been very tedius. I basically listen to a 50 minute briefing. Take a ten minute break. Listen to another 50 minutes of briefing. Take a ten minute break. This continues all day. After two weeks, I'm sick of the classroom. Monday will give us a little bit of a break. We'll be getting training on responding when a convoy has been hit by an IED. This will put us back out in the field for a day. Anything to break the monotony.
This week was also the first Army Physical Fitness Test (APFT) that actually goes on my records. The test consists of two minutes of pushups and situps. There's also a two mile run. You cannot get out of position or use incorrect form with the pushups or situps. I did 62 pushups and 60 situps, which was an improvement. I still want to add 6 more pushups and 12 more situps to get a 90 in those categories. I ran the two miles in 13:58. This isn't as fast as I was hoping to go, but I have no real complaint about that one.

Hey, great job! Not just on the APFT, but on pushing through the tediousness of all the classroom work. At least you're not constantly out in the heat of the day. Remind me again, what is an IED? By the way, go to http://bd.lilypie.com/V9oam5.png and it should take you to our baby countdown, which is roughly our countdown to the end of CHBOLC. I love you and am proud of you! -- Em
Enjoyed my phone visit with you this morning. On your blog I think you ment the convoy was hit instead of his, you might want to check that out. RG and Harrison have played Civilization IV until I am almost ready to turn it off when I am on the computer in the office with them.

Greetings from WLX! I finally made it to the station to check my e-mail; I got so far behind. Sounds like your APFT is going really great. Keep up the hard work and I know you will achieve your goals. I've been walking now for 3 weeks. Greg said 18 laps around the multi-purpose room equals 1 mile. I'm up to 45 laps with a goal of reaching 55 laps. Love, Momma in TN
great job on the PT test. Sorry for all the classroom time. I know that can take as big a toll on you as being in the field. Good luck with the rest and you and Em are always in our prayers.
